Transfer letters came on Friday.  I’m staying here in hood river and Hermana McKinley is coming!!!!! I am quite stoked. She is awesome. She was in the Mexico MTC with me and we lived in the same apartment in Vancouver when we first came out. I have been running every morning!! Even when I wake up and I don’t want to hahhaa but seriously it is so worth it cause I have more energy later in the day and just I am happier.

If you see these things on sale or something you can buy them and give them to me when I come home hahhaha:  Roller skates/ roller blades

And now I am trying to remember what we did this week to write about. Last night we met a cool man that told us about a dream he had had the night before where like he saw Jesus. So that was good and he was really willing to talk to us.

I have been able to learn more about the members here and they all have neat lives. Like it is very amazing to me because the more I talk to them the more I am just like wow you are so neat. I love being a missionary! This week will be divine. I love you all way too much.

trying to drive away, but these kids really wanted us to stay

trying to drive away, but these kids really wanted us to stay

Monday night we talked to this guy for a really long time. He was just chilling in the shade by his house. Perfect opportunity for a nice chat. At first he kind of just wanted to like argue and try to confuse us or something but we testified way boldly and by the end he kind of got quiet. Like he had really lame doubts. ie: he asked if we drank and we said no, he’s like why and we are like well it’s pretty destructive to your body. And then he was like cherries are bad for you too, they have pesticides on them. And we are just like uhh what point are you trying to make?  Anyway, i was kind of suprised about how bold I was at telling him what’s real. He said he couldn’t read. But I don’t know if I believe him or not. He said we could come back so who really knows. And then his neighbor just gave us a huge bag of cherries.

Every Wednesday pretty much we bring this member with us and we went to try this one lady we are teaching but her son answered the door and at first he was like ehh I’m not really interested. But then I remembered that his mom had said he didn’t like church cause it’s just the same thing every week so we chatted a little about the sacrament and how cool it is to have a fresh start every week. And then somehow he said he was going thru a hard time and he was curious why good people had challenges. And that’s a huge question a ton of people have. But I’ve been learning more and more that He gives us the challenge because He loves us. God wants us to be stronger and learn and grow, and I know that’s only possible when we aren’t just like super comfortable. I love the challenges I have had and I love what I have learned.  I am not perfect or anywhere close, but I know I am learning. And then he thanked us and said we actually helped a lot. I love when people just give us a chance because we really are missionaries to help people and not just preach about how awesome the church is.  I am sad that people just think all we want to do is baptize people.

Last night we totally taught a bunch of lessons and the coolest one was the last one. This lady and her 4 daughters. They said they had Mormon friends and were fine with all churches. We watched the “Because of Him” video cause it is always cool to watch. They were all super nice and we told them about the Book of Mormon and they were like well ya that makes sense that Jesus would also visit the Americas because he loves everyone and wants us all to know how to be happy now and forever. And then we got in the car and were stoked and then they came out and were like wait do you want pasoli??  I always say no to everything out of habit but Hermana Peterson was like yeaah!!  So they gave us a nice big Tupperware of soup! So it was like double Yeaaaa.

So basically everything is good here in Hood River. It is hot some days but people give us watermelon and stuff. I hope everything is beautiful in California and you guys are enjoying the beach because I really miss it and I would love to rollerblade along the strand right now. So enjoy it!!!!!  And rollerblade on the beach for me please.  Much love.

One year! (for Hannah and the washington vancouver mission)

A sisters conference

On Fourth of July we scootered along like the sidewalk by the river and played on some cool playground stuff with the ostlers. But in the morning also we went to the breakfast and then the hood river parade. But also we knocked some doors and found a cool guy who we taught and said we can come by again this week.

On Tuesday we were in white salmon and we had set up a lesson with a lady  for Tuesday night at like 8 and we got her number but then I could not find it so we just decided to go. She wasn’t there so then we went to the grocery store and I bought some bananas and Hermana Peterson bought a mini cheesecake  and then we walked out and the lady we were trying to visit was walking into the store!! It was so perfect and she gave us her number again! It was literally so perfect that we came out at the exact time she was coming in!

Also we went all the way to trout lake cause the elders found someone there that spoke Spanish. But she was like taking care of a kid so she wasn’t supposed to let us in but then she still did. We got to know her but then the kids mom came so I was like oh shoot should we hide and she was like yeah hahhaha so we went outside and after they left she got us and we taught her about the Book of Mormon.

On Wednesday we helped a member in her garden. HCS7-7-14 4And then she gave me kale! Saturday we were in white salmon again and a member came out with us and she was awesome! She like knew the people we were teaching and then after there was people outside just barbecuing some carne asada and she was just like hey can we have some and they totally just gave us tacos! And they were way delicious.

HCS7-7-14 20 HCS7-7-14 15This morning we went on a hike to a waterfall! And i just sat down on a nice rock and looked and I was just so overwhelmed about howpretty the earth is. And I saw a snake and it scared me.

So our new place is pretty awesome. We live in a barn/studio apartment in parkdale. The only thing is that we sleep upstairs so it is sooo hot up there. And there are  no windows so it is just really interesting. But we got air conditioning and that will help a lot!

This week I have been studying a lot about the spirit and just like it is possible to be sooo guided by the spirit that you are always in the right place at the right time. I love being a missionary and serving in the northwest! The earth is beautiful. HCS7-7-14 12I know God created it for us and he created us in his image. He really wants us to be happy and learn and grow so we can live with him again after this life! I love him and I know that he has a plan for all of his children. Oh and also I’ve been on my mission for a year. Craaaaazy talk.

the latest from Hood River…

(Hannah was unable to email on Monday.  I received this on Tuesday but was out of town without my computer by then…here’s the latest from Hermana Scow)

Sorrrrry it was mission p day and we moved into our new house!!! So we are emailing today!

Sorry again last weeks email was just terrible. I will make up for it right now!!!

Monday: played some soccer outside and that was fun. I am quite out of shape but it was still enjoyable. And then at night we had a lesson set up with a lady so we drove over but then saw someone that needed help so we helped her and she was like hey you guys are nice, want to see my baby horses? And I was like yeaah! They were pretty cute.  HCS7-1-14 1

And then we talked to some other people, knocked some doors, and we needed to talk to 1 more person to like reach our goal. So there was a lady sitting in front of her apartment with her daughters, and we were just like hey how’s it going and she told us that she was pretty sad cause her husband was in jail and she is taking care of her 5 daughters and she doesn’t work!! We taught her and watched some crazy kids do cool tricks on the cement. Then at the end we said a prayer with them all and there was this little white kid whose parents kept yelling at him before, like I could just tell that the family situation wasn’t the best. Anyways, we said a prayer in Spanish but he obviously understood none of it. But he was so quiet the whole time and folded his arms and closed his eyes and at the end he was like I like that, it felt good. Will you say another one? And for some reason he wanted it in Spanish. But it was just really cute. Before the prayer he was soo crazy and like fighting with his brothers and I didn’t think he would be able to be quiet in the prayer, but he was. We gave the lady a Book of Mormon and a chapter to read and she said we can totally come back. It was a nice night.

Tuesday: we had some cool lessons but probably my favorite was with a lady who has 3 kids, 1 of which is autistic. We taught her outside cause she said her one son just likes not wearing clothes in the house, and like halfway thru the lesson she points at the window and he was definitely not wearing clothes and like standing with his back facing the window. Anyway, she was soo cool and ready to learn. We used the talk called the prophet Joseph smith by elder korbridge to explain some things that people are confused about. We basically took turns reading these bullet points and explaining them……….. And she was loving it!  She was so happily suprised to hear that babies do not need to be baptized and just so many things, we read in Moroni 8 with her and she was literaly like woaaah.

Wednesday: we had dinner with a member at 6, well like that was the plan so we got there but then they asked if we could come a little bit later so we knocked some doors and met a nice lady. She said her sister had married a Mormon a few years ago but they didn’t really talk religion. We asked if she had any questions about what we believe and she did! It was really neat to hear her questions and be able to clarify what we actually believe and what is just crazy rumors. One question I liked was when we were about to pray and we folded our arms she was like now why do you all do that? Like there was some big symbolism or something and Hermana peterson was like well I think it’s kind of so the kids keep their hands to themselves during the prayer and stay reverent. Anyway, she was nice and said we could come back.

Thursday: we had exchanges and Hermana clanton came here 🙂 she was my companion in Gresham and so it was fun to be together. HCS7-1-14 29I looooove teaching with her. We commited someone to be baptized! We talked about the atonement and baptism and, like so many people, she said that she had already been baptized when she was a baby and usually i feel uncomfortable to try to tell people that is not how Jesus was baptized and it wasn’t done by the proper authority but I really felt the spirit guide my words as I said with so much love that we really wanted her to live with God again and that her baptism as a baby was probably way cool but it is not the same. God loves us so much and he has given us the only way to get back to him. It’s by having faith in Jesus Christ, repenting, being baptized by someone that holds the authority of God and then enduring to the end. So I just really felt so happy that I was so bold and then she gave us cherries. It was awesome.

Thats a lot of detail. And on Saturday we got to go to Gresham to see M get baptized!! Because I taught her when I was there. But the member that could take usHCS7-1-14 41 was going up in the afternoon to help her brother move so we went with her and helped him move! And that was fun and the baptism was good. I got asked to give a surprise testimony. Basically they just asked me to come up and give my testimony.  She is so cute and she was so happy!! And I really like that we are able to use Facebook so I can keep talking to her!

Last night we had mission pday at a park in battleground and I played some soccer and tennis and ultimate frisbee and 2 seconds of softball but I was terrible. Anyways, it was cool that everyone was in one place just playing and enjoying life. And then last night we moved into the new apartment barn thing! It’s so cute and there are chickens and a garden and sister Lunt is awesome. So I am sorry we didn’t email yesterday. We finished everything so late and yeah. But it’s soo nice here lately. It is getting hot hot hot. Happy almost Fourth of July!!!! I love you a lot.
