This is the road to where we live. But actually we are moving like next week to a place with another member who lives on flat ground and so that will be really good and awesome.

Probably the best part of the week was when someone gave us like 150 cherries and I ate like 30 that same day. And I have been eating them ever since. The other good fruit event was we got free fruit 2 other times this week: raspberries and pears. I like living by all these orchards.  The less good part is that everyone that we are trying to teach works in the orchards…7 days a week! And so they can’t really come to church.

this is by the new house we will be moving in to.

the prettiest place ever

Hood river is the prettiest place ever. There really are so many orchards. Like more than I expected!! And some of the members own orchards, like one of them owns the fruit company hahhaha grandpa sent me fruit from there.

Well right now we live on this hill in a little house. I will take pictures of it this week. So when we run I just run up this hill and walk down and then do sit-ups, it’s not ideal at all. Oh well.  I saw Kayla’s fb post that her dad was stake pres and I was like woaaah that’s cool.

HCS6-16-14 22Yesterday church was soooo weird. Cause it was in English and only like 3 people came that speak Spanish.. It’s hard to get people to church at this time cause everyone literally works 7 days a week in the orchards. Like basically everyone we teach either picks fruit, washes it, or packages it hahaha and I am just like yess I am so grateful for you all because I love fruit. There’s no trader joes here though. There’s a tiny walmart, Safeway and some random grocery story called like rossiers. Also the casita we live in just has a dorm size fridge and a microwave, toaster, and yea that’s pretty much it. So everyday for lunch I ate a salad with strawberries and pears hahaha and a piece of bread. I’m having withdrawals from the apartment and the gweneth Paltrow cookbook that Hermana Porter had. Today at walmart I even looked at rice cookers hahaha but there’s no way I will be able to like carry one around. HCS6-16-14 16

As far as people that we are teaching: there is a guy who got baptized in March who is doing way good and gave us mole twice this week. And R who was baptized last month who is so sweet. And I don’t really know any of the other investigators too well yet. Or like which ones we are focusing on. We have found some new people to teach but Hermana Peterson says usually we meet people at their house and set up a time to come back and then like they aren’t home so we just teach one of their family members, and I have noticed that is pretty true. Everyone is pretty nice though.

I do still miss all my friends in Portland and Gresham. I am soo glad we have fb so I can chat them and tell them I still love them! People here are cool too, it’s just different. Today we had zone pday and I miss the Spanish zone.

This week we have taught a bunch of people simply that god is our Heavenly Father and he loves us and he wants what is best for us, but sometimes it is not what we expect. I really am grateful for these 18 months I get to spend talking with others about all the things I know are true and have blessed my life. Having more of God’s word is awesome. I love the Book of Mormon. And I know it’s true.

Happy Father’s Day again and happy birthday to my dad!!!! I love you!!

I’m going to Hood River!

HCS6-9-14 8I’m getting transfered to hood river!! I leave Wednesday morning, and I’ll be comps with Hermana Peterson again.

I have to go pack. I’ll probably send a long one later. I just wanted to say hi and that I love you!

I’m going to hood river!!!!!!!!!! It’s going to be way good. Hermana Porter served there and she likes talking about it. Apparently there

are just a lot of fruit orchards and people give you fruit a lot which I am pretty excited about. It has been sad to say bye to my friends

here who are in the branch and who we are teaching, but at the same time I have been here for a looooong time and I’m ready for some

change. The other sad thing is I probably just have to leave my basil plant.

We’ve been teaching M and she’s totally gunna be ready to get baptized on the 28th! She still really likes the virgin Guadalupe and

always finds a way to bring her up during gospel principles and we just like smile at her and nod and hope the teacher just does the

same. She is changing a lot though and just is so much happier now. We are so excited for her and when she was talking about getting

confirmed and the Holy Ghost she was like can they also say this name and another name. And we are like well it’s just for you! She wants

her other family members to feel the same joy that she is and we told her that is what the temple is for!! She took a picture with us and we

both just look like giants compared to her.

We talked to a guy trying to unicycle and Hermana porter convinced me to try. The guy doesn’t look that impressed or interetsted hahha

We had some lessons with R! He has so so sooooo many just super profound questions that are somewhat difficult to answer cause we

don’t want to confuse him too much. But he just loves learning. Last lesson we wanted to talk about the plan of salvation and just be

normal and start with our life before earth but then he asked a question about the resurrection so it just got crazy and we hope he is

not super lost now. He always gives us a bottle of water and then I was like thanks I love water! And when we were leaving he gave me 3

more hahaha. Anyways, he is still really cool and smart

We taught some other people too. Also Randal Ridd who is in the young men general presidency came on Saturday and spoke to us. That was neat

and inspiring! He focused on  our doing everything with real intent.

I have loved serving here with sister porter. I am also done with the Book of Mormon. 2 more chapters. Right now my favorite thing about the

Book of Mormon is just when it mentions the geography and stuff of the Americas. Like the history is just so interesting and how the book ends

up in New York. Those people covered a lot of area and had a ton of wars. But I love the Book of Mormon and I know that it is true. I know

that god loves us and he is our father in heaven. I am so blessed to have an amazing father on earth who is such a good example of our

father in heaven. I love you!!! Happy Father’s Day!!!!!!!

it’s getting sunnier and sunnier

We taught R (the guy they met in the parking lot several weeks ago) and it was the coolest lesson ever. He is so interested in learning and has a ton of awesome questions. He understands how cool and helpful it is to have the Book of Mormon to tell the history of people that lived in the Americas before, during, and after the life of Christ and their spiritual experiences. He came to church too.

M is preparing to be baptized on June 14th. She calls us her angelitas and it’s amazing to see how much she is changing. When we first went over she was always super sad and depressed about life and now she is happy and hopeful. She kind of still feels bad because she was mad at God that her son died. But now she realizes this is how she can live with him again. And…

And she like called another relative and they were like yeaah you are the only one in the family who isn’t baptized!! Hahha and she is like woah I am the lost sheep. Anyways. She’s found and super happy.

Yesterday one of the ladies came to church that hadn’t come in a really long time and like we had tried to visit her but it just seemed like she reaaally didn’t like us. But I saw her at church and talked to her. She said she had been super depressed and had been praying for God to help her and really vague things like that and she felt like nothing was happening, like God didn’t love her. But then she came to a relief society kind of like talk and it was about being depressed. Anyway, she started praying specifically asking God to help her remove the sad feelings and stuff from her. And it was incredible!! She was so happy and cheerful and she apologized for like if she had offended us. But woah specific prayers do work!! I know God is listening to everyone’s prayers and loves us all so much.

Hmm it’s getting sunnier and sunnier. And transfers are so soooon. I am realizing I have way more clothes than what is recommended, oops. We will see what happens when I try to pack it all.

E had a birthday on Sunday so she invited us over and it was sweet. They come to church every week and we are teaching them. M still needs to just figure out if she is going to get divorced and stuff like that.

I don’t really know what to say about J. She is reading the Book of Mormon and likes it, but she is getting doubty that this is the only church with God’s authority. On Saturday we taught about the priesthood and just like how unique and important that is. And she watched Joseph smith: prophet of the restoration, and I don’t really know. She graduates high school this week so she is probably pretty busy and stressed. Woah now that just put things into perspective cause you said Pen just had baccalaureate. Anyway, we will figure stuff out. It will all work out in the end.

I’m still reading the Book of Mormon and it’s still awesome. It seriously is sooo much about Jesus Christ and It’s awesome.  I am so blessed to be on a mission here in Oregon. I hope everyone has a beautiful week. Much love. Hannah
