On Monday we had zone pday soccer in Vancouver and on the way home there was barely any traffic and we drove with the windows down.
After pday we knocked some doors and a drunk lady said we were adorable. I decided I probably want to sell things door to door for a little while cause it would be really funny. As awkward as knocking doors is, it’s usually pretty funny. And then we went to Safeway to go to the bathroom cause i always drink water and so I always need to pee and now it’s just tradition. I wonder if the people recognize us cause we literally go there like everyday. Anyways so we were walking out and then we saw M and E!!!! The awesome people that got baptized in January. We invited them to come meet some people we had met but hadn’t had the chance to teach a lesson to. It was the coolest lesson ever. We talked about our purpose as missionaries and said when they come to know that the things we teach are the truth they will want to follow the example of Jesus and be baptized. And then M and E, the super recent converts testified about their baptisms and how it has blessed their lives. Like they were so real and honest and relatable. The family has a 12 year old girl who has been reading the Book of Mormon picture book and loves it and feels good when she’s reading and just wants to keep reading. And then a teenage boy who expressed fears about going to church because he is shy. But E totally explained that he was shy too and the church and baptism and the Holy Ghost have helped him a ton. And then the mom is incredible too. She has been looking for the truth and what to do. We taught them on Saturday also. And both lessons were the neatest. The mom said the closing prayer and teared up. Like being able to bring people information that can change their lives is such a blessing. I love it.
And then the other awesome family is the G’s. We tracted into the daughter who is like 18. she was at her boyfriends house but she told us we could come to her house a different day. We did, and it was great. I think I wrote about it last week. But we taught them last Saturday and then we taught them on Wednesday and J had read 1 nephi 1-12 and like remembered all the stories and details. They too are so excited and eager to learn. Last night we had a lesson with them about the plan of salvation and invited them to be baptized and they said they will on April 26th!!!! Like suuuuch a cool family with tons of awesome questions. And the daughter goes to school with two of the girls who are in the church.
And then another awesome family is M and her daughter (who doesn’t believe in god). We had a lesson with them on Tuesday and a member came and it was just fabulous. We watched “mountains to climb” and they reallly liked it. the daughter totally opened up and said she doesn’t like church cause she feels excluded cause she is the only one that doesn’t believe in god. We are gunna teach them tonight about gratitude and recognizing all the blessings we do have. The mom is a strong catholic but she really likes that her daughter talks to us and likes us so she has been praying about Joseph smith and the Book of Mormon and she likes how she feels. Party time. Last week we invited the daughter to pray and then texted her the next day to see how it went and she was sad and said she got hit in the face with a volleyball so we wasn’t gunna pray anymore hahah. But hopefully she read 1 Nefi 1. Last time we told her to read it but she accidently read a page in the index hahhaha
Okay one more cool person, L… she has been reading the Book of Mormon at work and her friend saw and was like what’s that book so she lent it to her!!! We invited her to be baptized and her only concern was that she might move to Mexico soon so we assured her that we have churches all over Mexico too!!
On Wednesday we had zone conference and it was kinda sad cause it is time for Elder Collins to go home. But it was the best zone meeting ever. I love our zone. And then we surprised elder Collins with a giant burrito that we all brought ingredients for and then drank some jarritos. Our zone is great. And we drove home from that with the windows down also. The more window down driving the better.
A couple weeks ago it was the library’s birthday and they had stationary so you could write a note and I wrote a Spanish haiku and they put it on the display! I made the chili from a recipe you sent and it was delicious. We knocked on the door of a member that had epilepsy and he like started having a seizure in front of us and that was scary and we couldn’t decide if it was real or he was trying to freak us out. Either way I was freaked out.
Hermana clanton and I aren’t being transferred (yessssssssss!) but she’s sick and so I have been drinking a lot of Emergen C and not letting her touch anything and it’s working so far cause I haven’t gotten sick yet. Like every Sunday the zone leaders send out a voicemail and they talked about us this week!!!! Cause we talked to at least 10 people everyday and taught 20 lessons and found 10 new investigators, Yeaaaa!!!
We had stake conference and all the missionaries sang and then just the Spanish missionaries sang but I basically just smiled and sang really quiet cause i didn’t want to sound bad at an audible level but people complimented me for smiling so that was good.
Anyways that was probably super boring to read and not exciting, but it was way exciting to do. This week was incredible. There are amazing people here. There are amazing people everywhere. The church is true. I love it… I love Jesus Christ and I love being a missionary for him. everything worked out soo well this week. God loves us and wants us to succeed, this is His work.
