i love being a missionary

HELLLLLLLO…i am such a happy missionary!!!! our zone is the best. we had a zone meeting on tuesday and ahhh it was just great. like we made goals and it was so motivational. we had a little testimony meeting at the end which was great also.  like everyone in the zone is awesome and such good examples to me.  i love being a missionary.  but what was really stressed was having 10 OYMs everyday, an oym is just open your mouth, which sounds easy enough. but its like you introduce yourself and share a lil spiritual thing and then invite them to do something. we give a tonnnn of mormon.org <http://mormon.org>  cards out this way.  i really hope people are actually going to mormon.org <http://mormon.org>  cause its way cool and mormon messages are sooo inspirational.  i just want everyone to watch them.  anyways. sometimes it hard to talk to oym 10 people cause we are in lessons, are driving to other lessons, and its cold outside. but i know the more people we oym the better. and sometimes it confuses me that there are so many missionaries and we are all talking to so many people everyday…. how are there still people that havent met missionaries?  anyways, we have been working really hard on 10 oyms a day because one of the apostles promised that if we get 10 oyms everyday everyday everyday, our baptisms will double. and our zone goal is to have 2 baptisms per companionship before the end of the year.  ahhhh i know that we can do it though.  like theres a really good family that wants to get baptized.  what better way to start out 2014, than being baptized.

last week we were at this apartment complex, and it was like 830 and i said namaste to this man who looked like he would appricate it.  he did.  he got sooo excited and was like how did you know that?  anyways he was so happy to talk to us and like invited us over to his house.  anyways, this other man like came up to us and was being so weird and so we introduced ourselves but he like thought we were prostiutes like it reaaaaally freaked me out.  he was like welll uhhh i live right over there if you girls want to comeover. and i was just like oh okay awesome.  but it really scared me and now i dont like that apartment complex. but our investigators live there hahahhah.

that same night we visited a lady who was AWESOME. she has been reading the book of mormon and feels really good about it. she showed us some literature from a different church and was like i dont think this is real or good. what the whaaat, she is so golden. but her spanish is kind of hard to understand so that was interesting. but we have a lesson with her tomorrow  soooo hopefully that goes  well.

i kind of forget what else happened except i want to be vegetarian. i bascially am at home. they had pumpkin pie samples at trader joes ❤ but i didnt buy one.

ohhhh how could i forget!! grandpa thank  you soosososoososo much for the fruit basket. that was the best thing ever, the elders made fun of me but the fruit was great and i am sooo grateful for you. also my companion was talking about fish today and i just miss your fish. like i told her we couldnt talk about it anymore cause it made me miss you.

and mrs ito and mrs. oren: thank you for the socks. they are so cute and i just love them!

mom: THANKS FOR THE PACKAGE!!! i love when you send me clothes ❤ thanks for the brush and my shirts and the polka dot one is cute!! and the sweaters are awesome. i realllly am also happy about my leggings and im wearing the sweater ones right now. they help a ton!

its been suuuper windy here and like kind of hard to be motivated to go outside and knock doors. but today is pretty and hoepfully it wont be so windy anymore. but yeah everything in the nw is great. one of the members owns a foodtruck so we get to eat there every tuesday. it is sooo delicious. tacosgadea or something,

thank you everyone for everything. i love you and i love being a missionary. The members in this branch are incredible and they are so ready to do missionary work and it makes me so happy. go out with the missionaries!!!!!!!!!!

we get to start using facebook to like prosylete every day. that should be ineresting. i hope everyone has a niiiiiice week. IMG_2175

welp… yea part of portland is in our mission.  i want to say its like the northern part but i still havent figured out the map as well as i had in vancouver.  on tuesday we said bye to more of our investigators and it was so sad.  i love them all so much. our last stop was at the house of a woman who has been through a tonnn and hna patton and i both just feel in love with her.  she is so sweet and thoughtful. well this mean man was living with her,  and her kids didnt like him and the one son kept running away because of him and i was just like ugh.  so i fasted for him to go away…hahhahaha well it was like just part of my fast.  anyways so we went there on tuesday and it turns out that he left!  so i thought that was really awesome.  anyways she is like freaked out to leave her house because how scary the world is.  we taught her about the temple and she really enjoyed it.  i am sad we wont see her for a while but i know the other missionaries will love her just as much.

also on tuesday the new missionaries arrived and we got to take them out and then on wednesday we had transfers!!!!!  my new companion is hermana peterson from utah.  she loves hunting. like LOOOves it. and meat. and she loves wearing jeans. and im grateful i get to train her.

so for transfers everyone goes to the mission office with alll their stuff and then we find out our new companions and then they drove everyone and all their stuff to their new areas.  we got to the church in portland and they gave us our car and cell phone. hahhaha it was so terrible that i didnt buy a GPS. but lucklily the elders in our district are super nice and letting us borrow theirs. so we got to the new apartment (the apartment is very luxouoorious but sooo empty and plain),
unpacked a lil, and we had a meeting with our district. and then yah

and on thursday was the training meeting so we got to drive back up to vancouver. but the training meeting was so cool and i still dont know why i am training because i like dont know anything and now i get to teach what i do know to a new missionary and be a really good example. its a cool experience though.

we live so close to trader joes and i am so happy about that.  portland is so neat and crazy and everyone bikes. and the billboards are cool and the people are cool and i just really like it here.  sunday was stake conference which was GREAT cause president taylor spoke and there were so many talks about the temple. but we didnt get to meet the branch 😦     i’m excited for next week!!!  sorry this was long and all of the information is super irrelevant. thanks for everything.  i now love knocking on doors. well like the first one is still hard but its fun after a while and always just a surprise.  i love talking to all the people!! thanks for being my family and friends.  i love you!

Moving to portland…

soo this week we got our transfer information in a letter on Friday.  I was like so ansty the whole day, but my companion reassured me soo many times that id stay in Vancouver.  well yea she was wrong.  I get to go to Portland and train a new missionary!  I am vveeeery excited but also just so nervous. hopefully she is nothing like I was, but we will see tomorrow. so ive been packing and its been really hard to focus.

this week we had some exchanges and Hermana clanton came here and we freaking rocked it. we taught so many lessons and it went really well and all of the people we taught were incredibly prepared so im kind of sad to leave them. but it was good. then we had a sisters conference on Wednesday which was so interesting and overwhelming to have so many girls in one room. but president and his wife are the best and it was way neat.

on Thursday night we were knocking some doors and like no one was really home.  so we just went over to one of our friends house and sang a hymn in Spanish. when we were walking away this couple we know from church ran up and were like we heard you singing!!! and they brought us over to their friends house who is also Hispanic and it was such an awesome member referral thing hahha.

and the other exciting thing that happened: we were going through like past investigators in the area book and chose someone to go visit.  we went over and she was really nice but said she liked her church and she was so happy at her church. she told us about how her husband and his parents had all passed away like last year so we asked about her thoughts on the after life. I explained about the celestial kingom and she asked how do we get there? ahhh it was crazy and awesome and then somehow that transitioned to the book of Mormon, oh she was like yeah I like your church but why do you worship joseph smith.  she had been totally confused by that so we clarified and talked about how we have a prophet on the earth now to help us. and theeen she asked like can I have some information on him.  so we went on her computer and watched one of president monsons conference talks from October! she loved it. it was amazing. and she like commited herself to read more on lds.org <http://lds.org> . so yeah that was a beautiful experience.  if only all the investigators had computers.

but great news: we get ipads in December!!!!! everything is amazing. I love being a missionary!  and finaaaally this girl that we have been teaching/inviting to church every week came! for our last sunday here. it was great. speaking of sunday, we got to bear our testimonies in church and then after everyone like wanted to take pictures of us and say bye. I feel bad I never knew when the msisionarys were leaving or anything. but all of them like knew my name and the one little girl was like its my birthday soon, cant you just stay for my birthday please hahaha. but yeah being in the branch has been incredible. im going to miss all of the families so much. they are such amazing people and I hope to be like them one day.  saying goodbye to all the members and investigators is sooo sad but ill probabaly be back soon hahahha.  anyway, I love you and everyone and I always appreciate the notes. thanks for all the support in everything! it means sooo much.  have a such good weekIMG_2153

happy halloween from Vancouver

for Halloween we went to a members house who live sooo far away like an hour away in the mountains. they are so  awesome and we had a crazy meal where like there were different names for the food and we choose them and then like had crazy untensils.  it was funny and we also made masks.  but I was sad we didn’t get to dress up.  also on Halloween we had district meeting and elder gomez’s mom sent some mustaches, that’s why there are so many pictures of me with a mustache. it was fun and we walked a lot. now we just always walk a lot cause we can only drive 1200 miles a month. I like walking but its just way more cold now.  thanks for the gloves.

on Wednesday there was the trunk or treat and we like were doing all these things to help our investigators go.  but then it started at like 7 and we got their at 720 and it was already over hahhah so sad and awkward.  but apparently one of them did go and had fun!  yesss.

on Tuesday we had interviews with president taylor and his wife and those were special.  president taylor is awesome and so wise and I am so glad I get to be in this mission.

day of the dead was like on the first and second of November and so many of our investigators don’t celebrate Halloween, but we got to learn about dia de los muertos which is so cool.  people invited us to a festival in Portland but ya obviously we couldn’t go.  we walked to a cemetery but it was too fancy to have such activites hahhaha but it was still neat.  also at the same peoples house that talked to us about the festival, they have a parrot that talks!  I don’t think ive ever really seen one in real life so it was really funny but like weird.

last night was the saddest day probabaly of my mission so far.  we went to visit a family that got baptized this year and they are so amazing but haven’t been to church in like 3 weeks.  at first it was so awkward cause we were just like hey hows it going, we miss you.  and they were like oh yeah todo esta bien…obviously it wasn’t cause they weren’t coming to church.. but after a while they said they know the book of Mormon is true and the church is true. they are just needing some time to wait. the dad doesn’t have the ganas a leer el libro de Mormon y its so sad because they always read together every night. My companion shared a solid scripture and we bore our testimonies. they said they love the missionaries and we are welcome anytime,  but ahh it was so sad and after we left we just cried.  hahah well also I cried when I bore my testimony and said the prayer. they know its true!!  😦

fast sundays are soooo long and Hermana jaeger pointed out that cause it was daylight savings we fasted an extra hour hahhaha but the branch is still fabulous and I love being in it.  transfers are next week ahhhhh who knows what will happen.

oh also so we are teaching someone and the elders are teaching her sister and the other elders are teaching her daughter hahhahahha but they are all so neat and need the atonement soo much.

okay also random but please never send me candy hahahhahah cause then I have to eat it. the less temptations the better

I love you have a great week I am so excited to read your letters!!!
